Witt Museum, which is also known in the literature under the abbreviation MWM, is fully indebted by its collections, library and worldwide connections to the work of self-taught person, who initially had completely different education in economy. The autobiography of the certificated businessman, Thomas J. WITT, shows him not only as a publisher of new data in his field of study, but as an author of numerous personal publications and as a coauthor of many publications on taxonomy and faunistics, which are illustrated in his lifetime project autobibliography. In 2001 Thomas WITT was awarded with the Ritter-von-Spix-medal for his merits for the Zoologische Staatssammlung Munich.
